My name is Janiya, and I’m an independent rescuer based in Dubai. Together with my husband, I take care of around 75–80 cats — about 25 live in our home, and the rest are community cats that we feed daily in two parks and around our area. Over the years, through rescue, rehoming and TNR, we’ve helped more than 150 cats.
This is the story of Cat, a very special, beautiful, a gentle giant of a Maine Coon breed Cat, named Mimi. She was abandoned by her previous owner like she didn’t matter. When we brought her to the clinic just to run some routine tests and prepare her for adoption, the results hit us like a storm — she had FIP, a tumor, severe dehydration, and anorexia.
I was told by a friend of her former owner to just put her down, that it wasn’t worth fighting for her life. Can you imagine? I cried for hours, andmy heart shattered. I always cry when I see innocent animals suffer, but this time it was different — terrified as I was, that I wouldn’t be able to carry this weight.
The treatment wasn’t easy and definitely not cheap — the GS medication alone cost 350 AED per vial at the clinic, and she needed 84 days of it. I have three kids at home, and many other rescued cats. The pressure was enormous. But we made it through. Gladly we found other sources to buy this medicine.
When I found out about her illness, I immediately turned to Allah. Oh Almighty, I am powerless, and everything is in Your hands. I am a weak human being, and both illness and healing come from You. If You will it, You will grant me the means to afford her medication and You will heal her. I surrendered this situation to God and hoped for a miracle.
My girl responded to the GS treatment right away, and now I can say that we have defeated this illness — though we are still waiting for the end of the treatment course and the final test results. 2 more weeks left.
Together, she and I walked a long, painful road of sleepless nights, injections, vet visits, fears, surgeries, and prayers. She had an abscess, a biopsy to rule out cancer, and many other complications. But she never gave up. Neither did I
She is still healing, and her strength is truly inspiring. One of her past rapid tests came back FeLV positive. We are will make PCR confirmation, as rapid test not accurate! but even if she remains positive — she deserves a life. A warm home. Gentle hands. A heart that will never give up on her again. Felv cats can live same long and happy life with love and care 💞
Please understand: this is not a simple adoption. This is a rescue story written in love, blood, and tears. I’ve spent over 10,000 AED to save her. She is vaccinated, sterilized, tested, and we are continuing with follow-ups. I ordered premium medications from abroad just for her.
Because of this, there will be adoption fee that goes directly to the vet clinic — not for me, but to cover part of medical expenses. This is not about money. It’s about respect. It’s about giving value to a soul that almost didn’t make it. She is:
✅ Vaccinated
✅ Spayed
✅ Dewormed
If you are truly interested in giving her a forever home, I kindly ask you to take a moment to answer a short questionnaire. She is a one-of-a-kind girl and deserves a home as special as she is.
Thank you for reading her story. 💕
She’s not just a cat — she is a miracle.
